| The Windsor & Royal Borough Museum | The Museum eventually opened in 2011 after a lot of work by the Friends of the Windsor Museum Collection. There is a permanent display within the Windsor Guildhall and an Archive Store in the west of Windors. Well worth a visit, both in Windsor and online too. |

| Royal Windsor Forum | This is a discussion group hosted by Tapatalk (free membership is required) and moderated by Thamesweb. It has multiple discussion areas including “Windsor Now“, “The Thames at Windsor” and “Windsor History“. There are over 50 thousand posts covering a range of topics so have a cuppa ready when you start your search. |
| The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead | The main website for the local council has a diverse range of information and services for the local community. It has information about local libraries and museums, which is invaluable due to both the information and the extremely helpful and knowledgeable staff. |
| The Royal Collection Trust | The RCT looks after the Royal Collection, one of the most important art collections in the world. They also manage the royal residences and offer exhibitions, learning programs, and publications. The searchable database is very useful due to the local connection to royalty. |
| Windsor Local History Group | The WLHG was formed in 1976 to foster research in the field of local history, specifically the town and people of Windsor, and to publish the results. They have an annual publication called Windlesora which is covers a wide range of local topics. Many of the magazines are now available online. |
| Egham Museum | Established in 1968, The Egham Museum is an independent community museum located in the Literary Institute in the High Street, fondly known as The Lit built in the late 18th Century. |
| Natural History Museum | Berkshire’s only dedicated natural history museum provides a family-friendly environment to explore, discover and understand the natural world, with opportunities for hands-on learning activities. Located in Eton College. |
| Maidenhead Heritage Centre | The Maidenhead Heritage Centre (and ATA exhibition) and archive is an accredited museum which explores and explains the history of Maidenhead and its surroundings. |
| The Windsor and Eton Society | This society aims to promote and protect the heritage of Windsor and Eton. With nearly 400 members, most of whom live locally, they have a range of events, including regular talks and visits. Founded in 1946, they are active in the area of protecting local buildings and areas for future generations. |
| The History on Wheels Museum | Situated in Eton Wick, close to Eton College and within sight of Windsor Castle, History On Wheels is more than just a motor museum containing a unique collection of motors, militaria and memories. |
| The Museum of Eton Life | The museum brings to life the experience of learning, playing and living at Eton College across six centuries. It sets the history and traditions of Eton alongside stories of the daily life of students, staff and visitors. |

| Berkshire Local History Association | Suppose you have an interest in local history, either as a researcher or resident and would like to discover more about your locality. In that case, the BLHA is there to help you. In addition to running events, such as talks, study days, and walkabout trips, it also publicises events and talks of local history societies. |
| Windsor Directory of Community Groups and Charities | The Directory was launched by the Mayor of RBWM on 20th March 2024. Originally created to help residents looking for volunteering opportunities, it now forms an invaluable way to find all the local groups, societies, locations, et al across Windsor and the surrounding area. |
