Charitable Status

Early in 2006 – the 15th anniversary of the Friends’ formation – they decided to become a Charity to support ongoing activities, maintain and build the Collection, and find a permanent home for it. On 24 July 2006, they successfully registered with the Charities Commission. The aim of the charity is simple:

THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC BY PROMOTION, SUPPORT, ASSISTANCE, IMPROVEMENT AND DISPLAY OF THE COLLECTIONS OF ARTICLES OF HISTORIC OR LOCAL INTEREST MAINTAINED BY THE ROYAL BOROUGH OF WINDSOR AND MAIDENHEAD.

The Friends are identified as Registered Charity Number: 1115540. Our Trustees are Gerald Hyder, Len Nash, and Dr Brigitte Mitchell.
