The dedicated Staff at the Museum are constantly creating captivating exhibitions that celebrate local history, displayed both within the Museum and outside on the historic Corn Exchange. A 2021 exhibition – Ten Years of Our Museum – was very well received with 12 colourful panels showcasing the Collection, the Museum, the Staff, the Volunteers, the Community and the connection to the Royal Family. It is still available on the Museum’s website with more background on Visit Windsor.

Their latest mini-exhibition (2023/4) takes a nostalgic dive into the legendary Windsor Free Festivals of 1972 to 1974, a vibrant chapter of the town’s cultural past. By collaborating closely with the local community, historical societies, and experts, the Museum team weaves together enthralling tales that bring Windsor’s rich heritage to life, offering both residents and visitors a deeper connection to the area.

The Staff have created fabulous online exhibitions on the Museum’s website. This is a great way to document and share unique stories, especially during the COVID lockdown when many people spent more time at home and rediscovered the significance of certain of their treasured items.

If you have a collection or an object at home that holds special meaning for you and you’d like to share its story, please reach out to the museum’s team via email. Simply send your story and a description (or even photos) of the object or collection to museum@rbwm.gov.uk for a chance to be featured in the exhibition. It’s a wonderful opportunity to contribute to a growing project that captures the personal histories and experiences of people during this unique time.
