This striking portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was painted by Theodore Ramos in 2002 to mark her Golden Jubilee. It was gifted to Windsor Guildhall by the Royal Albert Institute Trust the same year.

In the painting, The Queen wears the Prince Albert Sapphire Brooch – first given by Prince Albert to Queen Victoria the day before their wedding. This treasured heirloom has since been passed down through generations of Queens and now belongs to Queen Camilla.
Theodore Ramos (1928–2018), born in Portugal, was an acclaimed oil painter who trained at the Royal Academy Schools under Sir Gerald Kelly. His portrait subjects included HM The Queen, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, and HM Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother.
You can find the painting in the Ascot Room between two beautiful stained glass windows. You can see this on one of our Guided Tours of the Guildhall.

This wonderful painting is available to be sponsored as part of the Museum’s Sponsor an Object scheme, which was funded by The Friends. Why not support our Museum?
