A Very Important Cat

Dexter is a Windsor institution.

He is regularly spotted in shops, pubs & restaurants, and offices around Windsor’s town centre – and our Museum too! He has his own Facebook account with over 9,000 people following updates of his exploits.

We do love it when Dexter visits the Museum. Not many Museums get a visit from someone so famous. So we are really proud to say he is one of our regulars. He wanders in, has a look about at our interesting displays, and then picks a prime spot for a wee rest and contemplation. Visitors and staff alike love his visits (and take lots of photos).

Unfortunately, due to illness and age, Dexter is not able to travel so much now. His owner now even offers him a personal taxi service to get home. At nearly 13 years old, he does need his comforts and needs to be looked after. Why not follow him – facebook.com/DexterWindsor – to see his progress.

Did you know that Dexter appears in the Windsor Monopoly set (photo is from the Museum, object number WNDRB : 2018.40)? He also appears in Top Trumps too! And there is also a colouring sheet at the Museum featuring him.

We can’t wait for Dexter’s next visit!

Dexter, if you are reading this, we are open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 10 am and 4 pm. And the entrance is free, not just for you, but for all. See you soon!
