It was an exciting development to see the Museum’s 11th December FB post confirming that from Tuesday 7th January 2025 it will be opening Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10 – 4pm daily. This is a great step forward.
After the September 2023 flooding, Museum staff and our amazing archive store volunteers have successfully returned all items to the Store, which has now had major preventative work done. The Friends have generously donated nearly £500 for trolleys to help move and store larger objects. Storing and cataloguing continue — thank you for your support!
The Museum team are working on the ‘Adopt an Object’ scheme which the Friends are also supporting including a donation of £500 towards the costs. It is hoped to launch this around the 20th Anniversary of King Charles III and Queen Camilla’s wedding in April 2025.
In a final piece of news. RBWM is funding some consultancy work by the Hampshire Cultural Trust who have a first-class reputation helping museums and art galleries facing funding challenges. It will be customer-focused and identify further opportunities for the Museum.
