September 2024
Unfortunately, in June 2024, the Royal Windsor Information Centre closed its public-facing service. Visitors can access information through the Visit Windsor website and promotional materials in various borough locations.
The Windsor Museum has adjusted its operations, now opening every Tuesday from 10 am to 2 pm, with Volunteers running tours of the Guildhall. The change was prompted by the council’s financial difficulties, and efforts are underway to develop a sustainable Museum Service Model. So far, Tuesday openings have been successful, with an increase in visitors participating in guided tours when available, driven by Windsor Castle being closed on a Tuesday and the Changing of the Guard Ceremony.

During non-public hours, the Museum team is focused on securing external funding and planning for the future, while also managing the recovery of the Museum’s Archive Store affected by recent flooding. There are plans to extend Museum opening hours once further training and support is in place. The Museum acknowledges the invaluable contribution of volunteers during this transition and is actively working to improve the visitor experience and secure additional income in the coming months.
