Threat Delayed but Work Required

The Tourist Information Office closed from 30th June with the loss of two jobs. The RBWM council believe that they can deliver a quality service through alternative means including the Visit Windsor website, electronic signage, maps and posters. For more information, please visit the RBWM website.

From 1st July, the Museum opening hours were restricted to just Tuesday 10 am to 2pm each week. The closure of the Tourist Information Office , as well as continued remedial action at the Archive Store, work on new future plans as well as the normal admin activities, caused reduced staff availability to act as keyholders.

A part of the new plans being developed are looking to open the Museum for an additional 1 or 2 days per week. They are being progressed by the Museum staff who hope to improve the current keyholder situation soon. We look forward to the situation being resolved asap.

Volunteers from the Friends continued to support both the new opening hours and the ongoing activities at the Archive Store. Whilst there is still only a limited agreed budget for 2024/25, we need to work with the Museum, the community and local business to help find an alternative funding model for the following year.
